Staten Island Woman Files Lawsuit Against Doctor After Breast Augmentation Surgery Goes Wrong

According to a leading New York medical malpractice attorney, Manhattan cosmetic surgeon Dr. Keith Berman has been named in a lawsuit filed in response to a botched breast augmentation.
George W. Ilchert, Esq., a partner with Lurie, Ilchert, Mac Donnell and Ryan, LLP (http://www.limrlaw.com), a personal injury law firm with experience in Manhattan medical malpractice cases, says that a Staten Island woman has filed a medical malpractice suit following a breast implant surgery that resulted in deformities and caused pain, disability, loss of self-esteem, humiliation and embarrassment.

The plaintiff, Maria Alaimo, a 47-year-old mother of two, is seeking $5 million in damages from Dr. Keith Berman, a Manhattan plastic surgeon, after a 2003 breast implant surgery resulted in what is known as a “double-bubble” deformity.

“Essentially, the plaintiff turned to Dr. Berman to enhance her breasts to a 36C and, instead of a pair of better looking breasts, she ended up with four breasts,” says Ilchert. “Even though Dr. Berman conducted a second corrective procedure on her breasts, she was left with even more unsightly scarring and damage than the first time.”

According to reports, post-op photos show heavy scarring on Alaimo’s breasts, which appear to be flattened on the bottom and severely swollen on the top.

Dr. Berman, a cosmetic surgeon who has been practicing for 23 years and offers an array of services including breast enhancement and tummy tucks, contends that Alaimo knew the risks before going into surgery and his lawyers say that when it comes to breast augmentation, some bodies respond well to the procedure while others do not.

“Although a jury will decide whether or not Dr. Berman botched this surgery, Mrs. Alaimo is well within her rights to seek compensation for her pain and suffering,” says Ilchert. “That is why medical malpractice attorneys are here to help patients that believe they are victims of surgical errors.”
